We often find something that lights up at night time, especially on the riverside. Maybe time to enjoy their beauty at night, the question arises about the animal. According to Wikipedia the firefly is a type of insect that can remove light clearly visible at night. This light is produced by the “cold light” containing no ultraviolet or infrared rays and has a wavelength of 510 to 670 nanometers, with a pale red color, yellow, or green, with a beam up to 96% efficiency.

Only male fireflies have wings and can fly, while the female firefly will be embedded in foliage or on the ground. To attract close attention mate, male fireflies are out of light that comes out of his body, and shows a specific message to the female. The light they produce light without heat are called Luminescence. Luminescence in the firefly’s body produced by a substance called Luciferin. Now, substance Luciferinini join with oxygen to remove the light. Removing the light is usually started from the male firefly, and then returned by female fireflies. Males use light to find a female, and mating occurs. Firefly light pattern differs among each species.

After the mating, the female firefly will lay its eggs under the soil surface. The eggs will hatch into larvae after 3-4 weeks and will continue to be fed until the summer ends. After about 1-2 weeks from the end of summer, the larvae will turn into pupae, then turned into an adult firefly.
